What is Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation?
Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to relieve the suffering of those in need while creating a better world for all through compassion, love and hope. “Tzu” means Compassion and “Chi” means relief.

How much does the retreat cost?
Retreat Fees: Payable by check or cash during check-in**
$90 (2 nights accommodation in 2-person room, plus local transportation)
$45 (2 nights accommodation in 4-person room, plus local transportation) – limited availability
$40 per additional night per person (2-person room)
$0 if you do not need lodging or local transportation
**If you cancel your registration after August 1, a cancellation fee may apply
Is there airport pick-up?
Pick-Ups/Drop-Offs: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) or Newark Penn Station ONLY**
Please be sure to make the request in your registration and provide accurate itinerary
**If you are traveling to other airports/stations in the area, you are responsible for making your own transportation arrangements.
Arrival Times: August 16, before 1:00 PM (before 12:30 PM if you check in luggage)
Arrival Pick-Up Times: August 16, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Departure Times: August 18, after 6:00 PM
Departure Drop-Off Times: August 18, 5:00-9:00 PM
What should I wear?
Dress code at the retreat is Tzu Chi volunteer uniform:
Tzu Chi blue or grey shirt, white pants, white socks and white sneakers, and ID badge.
If you are not yet eligible for a Tzu Chi volunteer uniform please wear solid color black, navy or grey polo style shirt and white or dark color pants. Nothing too flashy. Volunteer vests will also be available to wear as well.
Please keep a tidy hairdo; ladies with long hair, please tie up your hair.
** No TC uniforms will be sold during the retreat, so please prepare locally or regionally.
What should I bring?
Tzu Chi camp bag
Navy blue or black outerwear
Notebook and a writing utensil
Tzu Chi bowl and utensils set
Personal toiletries
Cash or check for your conference fee, if applicable
If you need to buy any utensils or sock covers, you can do so during registration on Friday. Most items are $10-$20.
